The Story of Housing for Delta Upsilon

It was just over 51 years ago that the newly formed Delta Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Delta Pi was looking for its first home at UTM.  After meeting for a time in an assembly room of Clement Hall, the sorority settled into its first home in “The Grove” in a modular building that had previously been used by the university to house married students.  The decade of the sixties brought an explosion in enrollment and a construction boom on campus.  The modular units in The Grove were torn down and replaced with modern brick apartment buildings.  When four of these apartments were made available to the sororities, the members of Delta Upsilon happily moved into their “second home” in the Grove.  Delta Upsilon thrived in these expansive quarters until the late 1990’s when all sororities had grown so much in size that the Grove Apartments became structurally unsafe.  By the end of 2008, the lodge for Delta Upsilon was vacated by the chapter, and the chapter has since been meeting in available rooms at the University Center with all of its     furnishings and possessions in secure storage.
